This document describes PTRDNS’ practices for the gathering and use of informations from visitors to our web site and users of our services. By signing up for, or using PTRDNS, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this policy.
What information does PTRDNS collect?
We collect information about you if we have a reason to do so, for example to provide our service or to communicate with you. It can either be information you provide or collected automatically.
Information necessary to our service
Basic account information (email, password) are required to operate your service and allow you to log in.
Billing information (ex: name, company, address, credit card number, VAT number) are not collected by PTRDNS but instead by our payment providers (Chargebee, Stripe, Mollie), only when you purchase one of our services and they’re needed to provide invoices addressed to you.

Optional data
DNS zone and record information are collected when you add a DNS zone and DNS records to our service.
Credentials (ex. API keys and TSIG keys) are collected when you need to modify records via external programs and set up authenticated AXFR transfers.
Automatic data
Aggregated DNS query information: PTRDNS counts the sum of DNS queries per zone and per account (not the individual queries) to monitor usage quotas and to be proactive in response to any issues, whether technical or security.
Log information: PTRDNS collects information that web browsers typically make available, such as the browser type, IP address, language preference, referring site, the date and time of access, operating system.
Information from cookies: A cookie is a string of information that a website stores on a visitor’s computer, and that the visitor’s browser provides to the website each time the visitor returns. PTRDNS only uses technical cookies to identify and authenticate clients of our service.
What information does PTRDNS share, and why?
PTRDNS shares the least possible information about you to protect your privacy.
Employees and Contractors may gain access to some information about you in order to help provide our service, for example if we need to assist you with something or if we’re investigating an issue on your account.
Third Party Vendors may gain access to some information about you in order to provide their services to us, or to you, such as payment providers that process your credit card information, or email delivery services, or customer support portal. These vendors are listed in in the “List of data sub-processors” section below.
Legal Requests may force PTRDNS to disclose information about you in response to a subpoena, court order, or other governmental request.
Business Transfers: In connection with any merger, sale of company assets, or acquisition of all or a portion of our business by another company, or in the unlikely event that PTRDNS goes out of business or enters bankruptcy, client information would likely be one of the assets that is transferred or acquired by a third party. If any of these events were to happen, this Privacy Policy would continue to apply to your information and the party receiving your information may continue to use your information, but only consistent with this Privacy Policy.
With Your Consent: PTRDNS may share and disclose information with your consent or at your direction with third parties with which you authorize us to do so.
Aggregated or De-Identified Information: PTRDNS may share information that has been aggregated or reasonably de-identified, so that the information could not reasonably be used to identify you (example: to publish aggregate statistics about the use of the service).
How to control your personal information
You can choose at any time to close your PTRDNS account according to the Terms of Service available at https://www.ptrdns.net/tos/ . All data (personal or not) associated with your account will be removed from the service database according to the Terms of Service. Some information may still be present in our logs and backups though, and will definitely be gone after up to 30 days.
Please note that our payment providers may retain your personal data for a longer period, for the purposes of providing you the last invoice and tax collection.
You can access and update most of your personal information from the website directly, but if you have a more specific request feel free to reach out to us via our customer support portal.
Security
We work to protect your information against unauthorized access or alteration, and take reasonable measures to do so, such as keeping software up-to-date, restricting access to internal services and using state-of-the-art authentication and encryption methods.
Transferring Information
Because our service is offered worldwide, the information about you that we process when you use the service in the EU may be used, stored, and/or accessed by individuals operating outside the European Economic Area (EEA) who work for us, or third party data processors. This is required for the purposes listed in the “What information does PTRDNS share, and why?” section above. When providing information about you to entities outside the EEA, we will take appropriate measures to ensure that the recipient protects your personal information adequately in accordance with this Privacy Policy as required by applicable law.

PTRDNS uses the following products and services:
Hetzner, Hybula, Crunchbits, HostSlim for hosting the website, the PTRDNS application, the API endpoints and DNS servers, and for storing the service data.
Chargebee, Stripe, Mollie for collecting payments and generating invoices.
AWS for sending email notifications.
FreshDesk for hosting the customer support portal.
Changes to Privacy Policy
PTRDNS reserves the right to modify or replace this Privacy Policy at any time. The Privacy Policy will always be available at https://www.ptrdns.net/privacy/ . The date of the last update will be displayed at the top of the page.
